I am very excited to be an important part of your child’s life this school year.  I graduated from St. Cloud State University with a bachelors degree in elementary education.  I was hired by the district to begin the fall 2012 school year.  In December of 2015 I completed my masters degree in education at Saint Mary’s University.  Prior to becoming a full time teacher here I was a substitute teacher for six years in the district.  It was obvious to me that this was a district I wanted to be a part of on a daily basis.  The staff and students have always been welcoming and enthusiastic.  

Currently I live outside of Eden Valley with my husband and our two children.  We love spending time at our camper on the lake near Ottertail in the summer and I love watching the Vikings play football in the fall and winter.   The NPK HERO Foundation is also very important to me.  The foundation helps families affected by pediatric cancer.  We raise money by hosting two fundraisers each year.  

In my classroom, I provide a welcoming learning environment that has a family atmosphere as we all work, learn, and play together.  Each student will have weekly jobs that will need to be tended to as well as other personal responsibilities.  Our district wide S.O.A.R. program is reinforced daily in our classrooms: Strive for excellence, Own our actions, Act responsibly, and Respect others.   

Ignacio Estrada said, “If a child cannot learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn.”.  Not all children learn the same.  This is a huge part of my teaching philosophy.

There will be focus on the fun and entertaining side of education, as I love to laugh and have fun, as well as some serious conversations about making our school and classroom a great place to be.  Send your child with a smile each day, it is going to be a wonderful year here at Eden Valley-Watkins Elementary School.
